Solutions to basic social problems often require the intersection of seemingly unrelated activities. The movement for clean energy to repair the planet and the movement to restore wealth to African American and Indigenous Peoples from whom it has been taken and denied intersect in the SolStar program and create new solutions for both the reparations and climate action movements.

In a practical sense, Solstar is helping build more solar installations in North Minneapolis, a historically black neighborhood. All 20 projects built to date (2025) are in North Minneapolis.
